It may not seem like breast surgery and liposuction would be a natural combination. But consider the area around the breasts—specifically the area just behind the breasts (colloquially called “side boob”). Rather than just reshape the breasts with implants or a lift or reduction, we often incorporate SAFELipo to refine the surrounding area and accentuate the beautiful new breast contour.
Using SAFELipo on the axilla, or underarm area has a host of perhaps surprising benefits. For most patients who receive this treatment, SAFELipo actually reduces unwanted sweating and odor. That’s because the procedure disrupts sweat glands where it’s used. In fact, this is such a well known ancillary benefit of SAFELipo that it can be used to treat hyperhidrosis, a condition that causes excessive sweat production. If hyperhidrosis or simply problematic sweating is bothersome to you, we can perform a specific treatment to reduce it dramatically or even eliminate it.
Let’s take a closer look at the aesthetic benefits of incorporating SAFELipo into a breast enhancement procedure. SAFELipo uses a 3-step process that minimizes trauma to tissue, makes fat easier to remove, and smoothes the remaining fat in the treatment area. This results in a wonderful, streamlined contour from the outer edge of the breast to the chest wall. This is certainly preferable to the alternative—an unsightly bulge at the front of the armpit or to the side of the breast. To better visualize the result, think of the way a beautiful picture or painting is complemented by a great frame. You wouldn’t put fine art in a cheap frame, would you? It’s important to consider the outline of the breasts and the areas directly surrounding the breasts when planning a breast enhancement procedure. The framing of the breasts can significantly affect how they appear both naked and in a bra or clothing.
SAFELipo can be performed at the same time as breast enhancement surgery for optimal comfort and convenience. We use specialized SAFELipo instruments to gently remove excess fat and sculpt the remaining tissue to complement the patient’s new contours. This achieves more than simply reducing annoying bulges. It also brings out the best in the breast’s new shape, highlighting its beautiful curvature and ensuring an outstanding result.
While patients may get close to their desired results with simply a breast augmentation or lift, the incredibly smooth, seamless lines achieved with SAFELipo of the axilla and bra line can elevate results to another level.
